Inclusion Quality Mark Launch

On Tuesday 7th November, delegates from over a third of our local schools, and many different children’s services teams gathered, at the Village Hotel, to think and talk about improving inclusive practice. Amidst a post-pandemic backdrop of increased stretch and challenge for everyone working within education and children’s services, this represented a valuable opportunity to come together, recognise everyone’s commitment to our children and young people and to discuss ways of working together to harness shared strengths.

The central focus of the afternoon event was the launch of our new BCP Council Inclusion Quality Mark (IQM). The IQM is a framework, approach and set of resources which has been co-created by local children and young people, teachers, educational psychologists, and other professionals. It sets out and supports the shared goal of enabling all children to be competently cared for and catered for within our community by our community, as well as sharing, recognising, and celebrating examples of good inclusive practice.

Presentations, group discussions and questions and answers enabled rich and diverse discussions which will assist everyone in moving forwards with this project. The event also highlighted other noteworthy local educational projects, such as our graduated response offer, our relational-based approach training, and our staff wellbeing supervision sessions.
