RE Teachers Conference Merley House - Reconnecting 2022

 

15 June 2022 saw the first RE teachers conference able to be held in person since the Covid 19 Pandemic. BCP Council's Standing advisory for religious eductaion arranged for, what is hoped to be an annual event, the BCP RE Teachers Conference. Hosted by Merley House, The event theme for 2022 was "Re-Connecting" 

 Agenda for the day included a morning of sessions:

  • Key Note talk from Justine Ball titled "Decolonising the teaching of Jesus".
  • An introduction and breakout discussions with Jan Lever titled "Road map to BCP Agreed Sylabus"

Afternoon sessions atteded by BCP teachers were:

  • Trevor Willis and David Rees - "World View Approach to RE"
  • Lynda Ford- "Many Faiths Together"
  • Karen Barker - "Ramandan"
  • Sally Hawksworth - "Humanism"
  • Megan Greenwood and Ian Terry - "Schools of Sanctuary"

The event was well attanded with 60 RE teachers from surrounding Schools in Bournemouth Christchurch and Poole gaining insights and professional development insights to inform their teaching practice. 

Thanks were given to Lynda Ford-Horne, SACRE chair. 

For a informative and interesting event with lessons learnt to support teachers when back in school.
