Educational Psychology Service (EPS)

Service

Educational Psychologists (EPs) work with others to create a shared understanding of the psychological barriers that might be impacting on progress and development.

EPs promote the well-being, inclusion and achievement of children and young people up to the age of 25 and aim to help identify those conditions or circumstances that can help maximise learning, development, and achievement for all.

We do this in a number of ways:

  • Assessing needs of individual pupils
  • Providing individual or group interventions to pupils
  • Supporting schools in developing practice, policies and projects
  • Providing training for parents and professionals
  • Developing research and evaluations

Each BCP setting has a SENCO who is responsible for co-ordinating provision for pupils with special educational needs. If you have any concerns about your child, please discuss these in the first instance with your SENCO who will work with you to provide appropriate support. If the SENCO feels that support from an external agency is required, they then will contact the appropriate service which may include the Educational Psychology Service.

In addition, a telephone consultation service is provided for parents/carers and settings on Tuesday afternoons between 1.00 and 4.00 term - time only for a half an hour consultation.

Please phone: 01202 126100 to book a slot.

The Educational Psychology Service is also commissioned by the SEND Team to provide advice as part of the Education, Health and Care Needs Assessment.
