The Reintegration Service (RIOs)
RIOs support children to attend school following a period of absence from education. The service offer document on this webpage describes the service and includes the simplified and updated form to request a RIO.
Brief Overview of the Service
The RIOs offer two types of Reintegration Support:
- Advice and guidance to parents, schools, and other agencies, on reintegrating children back into education following a period of absence
To arrange a telephone call or TEAMS based meeting to discuss a child and receive advice and guidance on Reintegration, please email: schoolinclusion@bcpcouncil.gov.uk and a RIO will be in touch.
- Allocation to a RIO for 1-1 support to a child returning to education following a period of absence
1 - 1 support is available for children who are:
- on the roll of a school and who have recently (approximately within the last 4-8 weeks) experienced a decline in their attendance, which requires 1-1 support to overcome.
- Has started a new school following a period of out of education, where 1-1 support has been identified as needed to ensure good and sustainable attendance. Where pupils are due to start a new school and 1-1 support is required, there must be a start date agreed by the school and parent for a RIO to be allocated.
The newly updated Service Offer on this webpage gives further details on:
