Service
The team provides advice to parents and schools regarding elective home education as well as reviewing the education being provided by parents to ensure that it is suitable to the child’s needs, abilities and aspirations. Where there is evidence of a child or young person not receiving a suitable education, the team will take action to ensure that they are re-integrated back into a school.
Schools can notify the EHE team of a new request to withdraw a child from roll in order to EHE by completing this form and submitting it to ehe@bcpcouncil.gov.uk, and including the parental request to remove their child from the schools admission register.
The EHE team will review this request to ensure it is a request to EHE (rather than, for example, a request to flexi-school or have work sent home) and we will then confirm the child as EHE. We will ask school to complete a school background form so that we can understand how best to assess the education provided at home.
The team will also provide parents and schools with advice regarding elective home education to ensure that parents are making a positive, fully informed decision to electively home educate their child.
When the team is informed that a parent is electively home educating their child, the team will review the education being provided by parents to ensure that it is suitable to the child’s needs, abilities and aspirations and where there is evidence of a child or young person not receiving a suitable education, will take action to ensure that they re-integrated back into a school.
Schools can notify the EHE team of a new request to withdraw a child from roll in order to EHE by completing this form and submitting it to: EHE@bcpcouncil.gov.uk
