Adult Community Education at Skills and Learning  

Services

Providing adult community education across Bournemouth, Christchurch, Poole and Dorset. Skills and Learning offer a wide variety of vocational, employability, leisure, health and well-being courses to meet the needs of adults and young people in Dorset aged 16 and upwards.

Skills & Learning work to increase the confidence, independence and skills of local people. They operate across Dorset in over 30 centres. From September 2022 the Skills and Learning flagship learning centre opened in Poole Town Centre, within the Dolphin Centre, and is providing qualification and non qualification courses designed to:

• Help people upskill when looking for work 
• Adapt to new labour markets 
• Improve health, wellbeing, and confidence  

Committed to equality of education for all, courses may be useful for parents, carers and guardians as well as young and older people looking to retrain or upskill for the world of work.

Team

Throughout the years, over 200 core and teaching staff have grown to offer more subjects and courses to Dorset’s adults and young people.

Teams teach across 100+ subject areas and provide adult education to thousands of residents each year through vocational courses, learning for leisure and employability programmes.
